Game Recap: Waconia 7, Providence Academy 6.

Updated: Dec 13, 2018

The Waconia WIldcats prevail against the Providence Academy Lions after a late game comeback.

1st Period: The cats started off a little shaky, letting in a goal 3 minutes into the game. But that didn't stop their momentum, they answered right back with 4 consecutive goals. Zac holm scored first for the Wildcats. Eli Bruellman set Holm up back door and Holm did the rest. Not too long after Holm scored again but this time Tommy Lindstrom skated around the net and fed Holm the puck on the other side. 6 games into the season Tyler Wenger had his first varsity goal. The puck sat right in front of the net for him to just tap it in. Danny Appelgren decided to join Wenger and also scored his first varsity goal. Appelgren danced around two guys and put the puck in the net to make it 4-1 Waconia at the end of the first period.

2nd Period: Providence had no quit. They came out flying in the second and put the puck in the net just two minutes and fifty seconds into the period. But Waconia answered 22 seconds later with a breakaway goal from Ayden Rakos. Rakos did his classic 5 hole shot to put the Cats back up by 3. Late in the second period, leading MN goal scorer, Zachery Giesler scored his second of the night to make it 5-3 Waconia.

3rd Period: Again Providence came out flying and netted goals just 26 seconds apart from each other to knot the game at 5. Time passed and it was Waconia's turn this time. Zac Holm fed Eli Bruellman backdoor to put the cats back on top 6-5. Neither team quit. Although there were many nerve racking glimpses, goaltender Cade Corbin held down the crease and made multiple game changing saves. Late in the period Eli Bruellman set up Tommy Lindstrom with a greasy tic-tac-toe goal to give the wildcats an insurance goal. Providence did score to make things interesting and had multiple scoring chances including a 2 on 0, but Cade Corbin stayed tough between the pipes and help on for his 3rd win of the season.

Record: 5-1-0

Not pretty but the WIldcats Prevail.
